Midnight zoomies - as cat pawrents we are way too familiar with this nightly ritual we didn't consent to. They sleep all day so that they can zoom around the house when we're trying to get our beauty sleep. It's not respectful, but who said cats were respectful? They're chock full of unhinged, wild, wily, untamed behavior, but that's also why we love them. Being sleep deprived from cats feels a lot better than sleep deprived from anything else. When you're sleep deprived you're not yourself. You waver in and out of being, you wonder what's even happening around you, but you do what you need to do anyway.

Despite a cat's chaotic temperament, we love them all the same, and keep them all the same. Their midnight zoomies don't affect us too much, and we still manage our lives. The benefits of having a cat greatly outweigh the negatives, and that's saying something since we all love and need our sleep. The love of a cat surpasses the little petulant annoyances they bring us, like midnight zoomies, fluttering and flipping around the apartment, waking us up with the sound of their bodies crashing against walls.
